Low self-esteem/lack of confidence

Self-esteem is the opinion we have of ourselves. Low self-esteem is when our opinion of ourselves is negative. Often, we tell ourselves we are not good enough or we are very critical of our self. This can impact our ability to cope with challenges in life. People with low self-esteem tend to avoid social situations or new challenges. This avoidance then reinforces the individual’s negative thoughts or inner critic.
