Counsellor and Psychotherapist in Lucan Co. Dublin

I am a qualified psychotherapist and a Garda vetted, Accredited member of the IACP (Irish Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists). I work with individuals from age 16 and over. I pride myself on delivering a professional, confidential client centred service. I am concerned with discovering what my clients want to achieve from counselling/psychotherapy and in facilitating an environment where these achievements can hopefully be reached.

My Background

short description
Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy
Clinical Practice and Further Training
BSc Counselling/Psychotherapy
Graduated BSc (Hons) Counselling/Psychotherapy
Professional Certificate Therapeutic use of Mindfulness
Following completion of a Counselling Skills Certificate from NUI Maynooth, I began a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy with PCI College (in conjunction with Middlesex University London). Training emphasised and measured the importance of counselling skills and of clinical practice and upon completion provided the foundation for entry to BSc Counselling and Psychotherapy.
In 2009 I began clinical practice with clients at St Catherine’s Counselling (The Priory) Tallaght. Client referral was mainly from local GP’s and Tallaght Hospital. Clinical experience varied across a broad range of mental health and psychological issues using multiple psychotherapeutic interventions. Further training completed in this year included Suicide Intervention, Focusing (a listening skills technique), Relaxation and Meditation Skills.
Following on from receiving a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy I began a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Counselling and Psychotherapy with Middlesex University London. An integral part of this BSc was use of Theoretical models such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), conflict management, further clinical practice, as well as a research led thesis on the possible tensions between “Mandatory Reporting and the Person-Centred Therapist”.
In 2011 I completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) with honours from Middlesex University London. This qualification is recognized by the Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (IACP). Obtaining this qualification forms a significant part of the criteria for accreditation with IACP.
In 2017 I obtained a professional certificate in the therapeutic use of mindfulness from the Irish Mindfulness Academy which I have integrated into my private practice with clients. BLCP is committed to providing clients with the most up-to-date practices within the area of psychotherapy and above all to delivering a professional service to clients.

I am a Garda vetted pre-accredited member of the IACP (Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). I am a strong advocate for the evidence-based, positive benefits and links between exercise and mental health.

I worked extensively with clients at St Catherine’s Counselling (The Priory) in Tallaght village. Many of these clients were referred from both Tallaght Hospital and GPs in the Tallaght area.

I continue my professional development by attending courses, workshops and training events.
